SUMMARY:Workshop Series: Black and Living Well
DESCRIPTION:Are you of Black or African descent and want to share in a space that explores pathways toward maintaining good mental health? Then join us for “Black and Living Well”.  Facilitated by Black identifying counsellors\, this is a collective environment for Black Students to freely express themselves and access resources tailored to their specific mental health needs. \nFacilitators: Vennassa Roper-Cunningham (she/her)\, MA\, RP & Myla Cooper (she/her)\, MSW Candidate \nWhen: Tuesdays\, 12:00-1:15 (see dates below) \nWhere: Kaneff 112 \nTuesday\, February 13: The Cultural Stigma Around Mental Health  \nThere is a historical shame that often stems from a broader cultural stigma surrounding mental health in the Black community. Seeking mental health support can sometimes be viewed as a sign of weakness and something to be ashamed of\, but you have the power to change this narrative. \nTuesday\, February 27: We Are Talking About It: Breaking through Emotional Hesitation \nFor some of us\, we are taught to keep our feelings to ourselves and so\, unlearning these reminders can be the tool to unlock pathways to a more meaningful life. \nTuesday\, March 5: Reimagining Self-Care for Black Folks \nWe all process and cope in different ways. Knowing that you should do what works for you and listen to your own body can be the start of building a simple self-care plan. \nTuesday\, March 12: Flip the Script: Empowering Narratives and Uplifting Stories of Hope  \nThe stories told about Black folks and their mental health may not always be hopeful but today we are channeling a different script towards hope and self-affirmation. \nRegister Today! \nBlack and Living Well Workshop Series Details
