SUMMARY:Undisputed: Book Launch with Donovan Bailey
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate Canadian sprinting legend Donovan Bailey and the launch of his memoir\, Undisputed. Featuring a discussion moderated by Kayla Grey (TSN Sports Anchor\, Toronto Raptors Sideline Reporter\, and Host & Executive Producer of The Shift)\, Mr. Bailey will touch on Olympic glory\, the value of mentorship and the courage to champion your own excellence. \nThis event will take place in-person on December 7 at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport at the University of Toronto. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a mix-and-mingle session\, followed by the featured discussion between Donovan Bailey and Kayla Grey. \nAfter the discussion\, Donovan Bailey will be available to sign copies of his book. Copies of “Undisputed” will be available for purchase at the event while quantities last. \nComplimentary hors d’oeuvres will be available\, along with a cash bar. \nProceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the University of Toronto’s Indigenous and Black Student-Athlete Athletic Bursary. Additional donations to this scholarship are welcome and a tax receipt will be provided for all gifts $20 and above.

SUMMARY:Black Leadership Advisory Committee
DESCRIPTION:The UTM Black Leadership Advisory Committee (BLAC) will serve as an advisory body to the Vice President and Principal and the campus’ leadership teams and committees to support transformative changes that promote that promote Black Flourishing and Inclusive Excellence among UTM’s Black staff\, students\, faculty\, instructors\, custodians\, and librarian communities by dismantling patterns of anti-Black racism and injustice. Using an equity-centered and anti-oppressive lens\, the Black Leadership Advisory Committee works collaboratively with campus and divisional partners to co-create a campus where all Black staff\, students\, faculty\, instructors\, custodians\, and librarians learn\, work\, teach and thrive by advancing racial equity and creating empowering spaces of belonging in all facets of the University of Toronto Mississauga’s mission and vision. \nDrawing on the expertise of UTM’s Black staff\, students\, faculty\, instructors\, custodians\, and librarians\, the BLAC will support a campus-wide approach to upholding\, sustaining\, and strengthening UTM’s strategic priorities and objectives in alignment with the 58 commitments from the Report of the University of Toronto Anti-Black Racism Task Force (utoronto.ca). \nYou can view the terms of reference here. \nThe event will take place in DV 3214.
