SUMMARY:Caribbean & Black Writing Collective
DESCRIPTION:Date: January 22\, February 5\, February 26\, March 19\, & March 26 \nTime: 1:00pm – 3:00pm \nLocation: MN3233-35 \nAbout the Caribbean and Black Writing Collective (CDRS): \nWriting can be hard! Sometimes we need help with our schoolwork\, and sometimes it’s just easier to be creative and find inspiration when there are other people like you around. At CBWC\, faculty members who have expertise in numeracy and writing instruction will be there to answer your questions\, offer support related to your concerns\, and help you with your writing. You can also just come to work on your assignments in the company of others who share your identity and learning experiences. You’ll be surprised about how much of a difference a collective of this nature can make for your writing experience and your academic journey at UTM.

SUMMARY:Black Art Mobile Collage Studio
DESCRIPTION:Black Art Mobile Collage Studio \nDate: Tuesday\, October 15 \nTime: 12 pm – 3 pm \nLocation: Davis Food Court \nBlack @ UTM is proud to commission renowned mural artist Curtia Wright to make a special mural for us. The mural will explore and evoke what it means to ‘belong’ as a Black person at UTM. \nAs part of the process\, Curtia wants your input! \nOn Tuesday October 15\, between 12 pm and 3 pm\, Curtia will set up a mobile collaging station in the Davis Food Court. You are invited to drop in\, share ideas about what community and belonging looks like and feels like. Tell us about if this feeling exists at UTM and how it can come together. \nIf you’re feeling crafty\, Curtia invites you to her mobile collaging studio\, where you can create images that express these ideas and feelings. (Questions about what a collage actually is? Check out this amazing – sort of long – tutorial by artist Helina Metaferia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUOMhVwnQ98) \nWe need Black community voices to speak about their experiences and inform the art that will grace the walls of the places they inhabit. \nPlease drop in at the food court at lunch time. We hope to see you there! \nIf you’re not on campus on Tuesday 15th\, there is still a way to share. Check out this questionnaire made by Curtia: https://forms.office.com/r/7tbCqDxfaK that asks some questions about being Black and belonging at UofT.
