The Black Flourishing Fund aids UTM in funding programs, services, and initiatives that honour, celebrate, and empower Black knowledge, experiences, and identities to flourish. Your support helps amplify the voices and visibility of Black students and professionals, reinforcing UTM’s dedication to confronting anti-Black racism across our Black, African, Afro-Caribbean, Black-Indigenous/Afro-Indigenous, and Afro-Latinx communities.

Your support directly helps to: 

• Economic & Entrepreneurial Advancement: Creating opportunities for Black students, professionals, and community members to establish generational wealth through financial empowerment, entrepreneurship, and career growth.  

• The Black Opportunities Fund: Supporting the development of campus-wide initiatives that promote dialogue, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a strong sense of belonging among Black communities at UTM.  

• Research & Knowledge Mobilization: Leveraging Black scholarship, knowledge, and expertise to advance research that highlights Black experiences worldwide and to raise awareness of Black academic excellence.  

• Centre for Black Excellence and Belonging: Creating a space that is physically, culturally, and psychologically safe, affirming Black identity, and fostering creativity, visibility, and excellence.  

• The Black Flourishing Summit: Hosting an annual event that unites Black students, staff, faculty, and community members to foster connection, reflection, and mutual support for personal and professional development within higher education.  

• Black Arts & Culture: Showcasing a diverse collection of Black, African, and Caribbean art and artistry through visual art, storytelling, and immersive cultural experiences that honour the histories and contributions of Black communities.
