Black on the Shelf Event Promotional Details

Join us inside the UTM Library next Thursday, February 1st, to explore Black literature in the stories we tell about love, life, and the experiences of being Black in the world around us.

In partnership with the UTM Library and Black at UTM, this event showcases a collection of thirty-one (31) must-read books highlighting Black authorship in various genres. Participate in book readings, reflective conversations, games, and a chance to win awesome prizes.

This collection includes books recommended by Black-identifying students at UTM, books published by Black-identifying scholars at UTM, and books that focus on anti-racist and inclusive pedagogies, ensuring Black stories are told and preserved.
